we dream...
we dream of establishing communities of faith that, by their very nature, draw people into a discovery of god in jesus christ. we dream of cities, ethnic groups, social classes, and generations being transformed by the reality of the risen lord jesus, manifested in his body called the church.
we dream of creating environments where friendships become the key bridges of hope and salvation, where hospitality would become our chief ministry. outreach would no longer be an occasional emphasis or activity of the church, but its primary responsibility.
without compromising biblical standards of christian worship and truth, our main goal would be to share life and faith with those who do not yet know jesus. we see this as moving the centre of our 'church' into the margins of our society.
what if a church's success was measured not by its sunday morning attendance, but by its volunteer hours in a community?
what if christians were known for their good food, great parties and infectious optimism? what if a church was involved in every scope of community development: helping the hungry, aiding the immigrant, fighting injustice, comforting the
lonely, protecting children and cleaning parks?
what would happen if christians started sharing life together: eating together, living together and serving together?
we are convinced that the church's communication of the gospel is measured by our commitments to each other (john 13:35), and our commitment to our neigh-bourhoods.
communities that do this fill a unique place in our culture. somewhere between the stress of work and the brokenness of home, most canadians look for a "third space" in search of hope, fulfillment and acceptance. a church radically committed to its community creates such a space: a place where both healing and purpose co-exist.
this is our mission.
